What is Elephant Kratom?

Kratom is most often named from the place whence it was sourced. Elephant kratom is one of the rare exceptions as it is otherwise named as such. Elephant kratom refers to the shape of the leaves, which resemble the shape of an elephant ear. This particular leaf is somewhat larger in size than other strains of kratom.

But what is kratom and why is it such a hot commodity right now?

Kratom 101:

Kratom is a traditional herb that has been used in Southeast Asia for centuries. It is believed to have healing and beneficial properties. Because these vary from person to person, we can not specify the exact you might experience from kratom. As such, it is not yet approved by the FDA so please proceed with care when using any kratom product.

It is obtained from leaves of the kratom tree, or Mitragyna Speciosa, which blooms in very tropical climates such as Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Once the growers harvest the leaves, they use different lighting and fermentation strategies to dry and nurture the alkaloids, thus making them even more poignant. Additionally, the color of the midveins of the leaves determines the strength of the kratom strain. Green vein kratom, sourced early on in the growth cycle, is known for its tame effects. Picked from the ripest leaves, red vein kratom is very potent. White vein, on the other hand, is a subtle mid-range variety.

Elephant Kratom: Origins and Alkaloids

Sourced exclusively from Indonesia, this kratom strain is named after the elephant shaped leaves. It is also said to be one of the biggest kratom leaves in existence. Despite what some believe, Elephant kratom is not sourced from a unique variety of kratom tree, it is simply the size of the leaves. Farmers take special care to grow and seek out these very elusive leaves to provide users with the ultimate kratom experience.

The alkaloid levels in Elephants are significantly higher due to the massive surface of the leaves. 7-Hydroxymitragynine and Mitragynine, the compounds that set kratom apart, are especially strong in this strain, with excessive amounts of the latter.
