Any search for “Best kratom brands” brings up a hundred lists, yet few explain what puts one vendor ahead of another. On this page, we start with the criteria and rank the brands against them. Jack Botanicals sells kratom, so as we evaluate competitors, those same standards apply to us. The scores show you how each brand performed against the set of objective criteria, so you can see where the rankings come from.
Each brand is assessed against the same checks, so a reputation has to be earned. We have searched for the evidence behind vendor about quality and evaluated them against objective criteria. A lower score simply reflects the criteria a brand hasn't met.
What makes a kratom vendor one of the best
Kratom vendors do not operate under a single approval system. There is no FDA approval process that certifies individual kratom vendors, and no single certification covers the entire market.
State laws about the legality of kratom vary across the U.S., and other countries have their own restrictions. Check the laws where you live before ordering with our Kratom Legal States guide.
So what does “best” actually mean here? It has to refer to aspects of the business you can check for yourself. A vendor that makes its testing standards and business practices easy to verify gives you something solid to judge. Those are the kinds of evidence behind the seven criteria that follow.
The aim is to identify vendors that give their customers solid reasons to regard them as trustworthy.
The 7 criteria we use to evaluate kratom brands
We use seven checks to assess how much evidence a kratom vendor provides about its products and how the business operates.
1. Batch-specific lab reports (COAs)
The best kratom vendors publish current, batch-specific Certificates of Analysis (COAs) from independent laboratories, so you can see what was actually tested in a particular batch. A COA should identify the product or batch tested and show the results rather than simply stating that products are “lab tested.”
2. Lot and batch numbers visible on the packaging
A lab report is far more useful when you can connect it to the contents of the package in your hand. We look for a lot or batch number printed on the product packaging that allows you to match it to the corresponding test report.
3. Complete labeling: alkaloid content, serving size, expiration
Product labels should give you enough information to identify what you are buying and how it is intended for use. We check the label against the information a customer needs to make an informed purchase.
4. Sourcing Transparency
The vendor provides clear information about the provenance of its kratom, and offers a description of the supply chain behind the product. We look at how the company describes its sourcing and whether those claims are supported by information elsewhere on its site.
5. GMP Compliance
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) address how products are handled and produced, including the controls a company has in place around manufacturing. We give credit to vendors that can demonstrate GMP compliance through a recognized program or appropriate documentation, rather than simply placing “GMP” on a webpage.
6. How the brand talks about its products
When a vendor is confident about what it is selling, it will be transparent about its products and quality standards. We look for straightforward descriptions and responsible claims that supports informed buying decisions. Promotional language that presents kratom as a guaranteed treatment or makes unsupported health claims counts against a brand.
7. Business fundamentals
The best kratom vendors make it possible to establish who is operating the business and how to contact it. We check for a physical business address and accessible customer support, along with a clear 21+ age gate and information about shipping restrictions where kratom cannot legally be sold.
Red flags to look out for when you choose a kratom vendor
The best vendors rely on reliable product information and rigorous quality assurance. They do not resort to questionable sales tactics such as these:
- Medical claims: vendors should not state that kratom can treat or cure specific conditions
- Guaranteed effects or promises that sound too good to be true
- Misleading claims that imply FDA approval: kratom is not FDA-approved
- Fake reviews or testimonials that appear manufactured
- Pressure tactics, such as limited-time offers and countdowns that push you to buy before you have time to assess the product, deserve to be treated with caution.
- Suspiciously low prices with no clear explanation
- Hidden fees. The price looks reasonable until additional charges appear at checkout.
- Unusual payment methods. Be cautious if a vendor insists on cryptocurrency or a wire transfer as the only way to pay.
- Subscription traps: Take care when a recurring order is easy to start but difficult to cancel.
How to check any kratom brand yourself
A few well-chosen questions can tell you more than a polished product page. Ask the vendor’s support team:
Can you send me the COA for the current batch of this product?
The actual report for the batch it covers you are buying should be available on the website, or the support team should send it to you.
Which laboratory performs your product testing, and what does your testing cover?
A good answer names the 3rd-party lab and provides specific information about testing for contaminants and alkaloid content.
How do you make sure the product I order can be traced back to its test results?
They should explain the link between the lot number on the package and the corresponding laboratory report.
Where does your kratom come from, and what happens to it before it reaches your facility?
A good answer will give a meaningful account of sourcing and processing instead of simply saying “sourced from Indonesia” or “White Bali originates in Bali”
What standards do you use for manufacturing and quality control?
They should either describe their procedures or point to an independently verified GMP program.
The best vendors will respond to your specific questions with specific evidence, so you have something on which to build trust.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find the best kratom vendors?
Start with the evidence. Look for current COAs and batch information you can trace back to the product. The vendor should provide enough information to understand what you are buying and where it comes from.
Are the best kratom brands third-party tested?
Look for independent laboratory reports tied to the batch you are buying. “Lab tested” on its own tells you very little.
What does a COA actually prove?
It records the laboratory's findings for a particular sample. It does not establish the quality of every product a vendor sells.
How current should a lab report be?
Ideally, it should match the batch currently being sold, because the alkaloid content of kratom may vary across batches.. An older COA relates to an older sample.
The vendor doesn’t provide a COA. What should I do?
Take that as a reason to look elsewhere. Any vendor selling tested products should be able to show the relevant report.
